Smooth Sailing Beach Carts
Welcome to Smooth Sailing Beach Carts. My name is Richard Filip and I am the founder of Smooth Sailing Beach Carts. My love of the beach started at an early age when my parents would take me to visit my family in North Wildwood, NJ every summer. I remember spending hours at the beach and dragging all that stuff to and from the beach. I also remember what long journey that was getting to the ocean with all that gear in tow. I never lost my love for the beach, instead of North Wildwood, I found myself settling in Ocean City, NJ.
It was the summer of 2016 and after going through a couple rusted out beach carts and seeing a few PVC carts on the beach, I thought there has to be a cart that can carry all my beach gear, roll easily over the sand and look natural on the beach. There was not one to be found. Over the winter, I came up with the idea of a replica life guard boat. Weekends were spent fine tuning the design and building the prototype that was to be launched in the summer of 2017.
Memorial Day Weekend 2017 and the maiden voyage to the beach arrived. As I walked down 14th street, I saw a few heads turn and received some positive comments. The moment of truth arrived when I got to the boardwalk and walked down the ramp to the beach. Loaded with beach chairs, umbrellas, a cooler and some beach toys, the life guard boat glided over the sand with ease. As each summer passed, more and more people were interested in purchasing or renting my life guard boat. As I brushed it off as just a winter project that I felt was a hobby, I was being encouraged by family and friends to give the beachgoers what they desired.
Although the design is slightly different from the original pictured , the life guard boat image has not been lost. Thanks for visiting the website and I hope you enjoy “Your Ride to the Tide”.
